f150 4.6 liters V8 engine, this came in the market after the replacement of the Windsor family of ford v8. It was introduced in the year 1962, there were many sizes available of the engine Windsor 289,302,351, etc.
After that Ford came up with the modular engine and the first one was a 6.4 liter v8. Here modular refers to advance to the procedure of manufacturing. This is about a square bore with a bore of 90.2mm and a stroke of 90.0 mm.
4.6 was a good and powerful smooth machine. For the first year, it was rated 190 horsepower. The new 4.6 generated forty peak horsepower than 5.0 liter v8. Engine 4.6 would be the exclusive power plant for the panther bodied cars until their demise in 2010. In the year 1997, the 4.6 had broadened versatility with its arrangement in the new F-150 and the E-series vans that had been redesigned for 1992. In the 4.6 liter engine, there occurred 3 and 4 valve rendition many eternities. For the use of Lincoln Continental and Mark VII, the 4 valve version inducted in 1993 as the Intech V8. Initially, for the mark vii 280 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque. In 2005 mustang the 3 valve version was first used then ’09 F-150′. For the use of F-150, 292 horsepower was used and for the Mustang 300 horsepower used. From the year 1997-2003 model used was a ford expedition and engine used in Windsor SOHC(6). The same year 1997-2003 for the model ford truck engine used was Romeo SOHC(W) & Windsor(6). The model ford van engine used was Romeo SOHC(W).
For the construction of the 4.6 SOHC engine, there are two fundamental Windsor block casting and four basic Romeo block castings.
The 4.6L, 90 degrees V8 has been offered in 2 valve SOHC, 3-valve SOHC, 4 valve DOHC versions. The engine has both options of cast iron and aluminum blocks, depending on the requisition.
The f-150 4.6 L receives a lower compression ratio intake camshaft with less duration, cast iron exhaust manifolds, and revised cylinder heads to improve cooling. In terms of color and height, the intake manifold changed a bit. The engine preserves the Coyotes forged steel and piston-cooling jets. Having an expanding oil cooler like the Boss 302 was beneficial for declining peak horsepower of the engine to 360 hp at 5500 rpm, and torque was rated at 380 lb-ft. Ford enhanced the induction system to take out the air from the grille under the hood as opposed to sufficient.
The boss 302 was available from FRPP, the engine was deliberately renovating the 4.6l and 5.4l modular v8 units in all Ford vehicles.
